Winsteps warning messages

Warning messages indicate unusual situations. They should be investigated to discover whether they can be ignored in your situation, or require action to be taken. A typical warning message looks like:

Warning (1): unexpected x-axis value: 27.45

Number

Warning message

Diagnosis

1

unexpected x-axis value: ....

Scatterplot

The value is outside the expected x-axis range for the plot. Look at the plot to confirm that it is correct.

2

unexpected y-axis value: ...

Scatterplot

The value is outside the expected y-axis range for the plot. Look at the plot to confirm that it is correct.

3

transposed data reduced from ... original persons to ...  transposed items

Transpose

There are too many persons (usually more than 64,000) for all the persons to be tranposed into items.

4

Table 43: person point-correlations not estimable because item categories differ.

Table 43

Items have different numbers of categories (ISGROUPS=) to person point-correlations cannot be calculated.

5

Data are ambiguously connected into ... subsets. Measures not comparable across subsets.'

Analysis window and Table 0.4

The data form separate subsets so that persons and items in each subset cannot be directly compared with those in other subsets

6

simulation of an extreme score

Simulating data

The likelihood of an extreme person score is very high. One has been simulated even though none are allowed.
